1:48 Light plywood, regular is a decal imitation of light plywood with a regular grain. It is applied like an ordinary decal and replaces laborious painting of wood with a brush.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a part or a paint but a decal with printed wood grain. It serves to cover surfaces that had a plywood or veneered finish on the real subject. Typically those are cockpit floors and side walls, the covering of the wings and fuselages of older designs, or wooden accessories in a diorama. The word regular in the name refers to the regular variant of the grain, that is even wood without pronounced shading.
Imitating wood by hand with oil paints is lengthy and in a small scale it is easily overdone. The growth rings come out too coarse and the surface then looks like wood at full size. A printed grain keeps the same density over the whole area and continues even where several parts meet. It can also be repeated on several models with the same result and without risk.
Back the surface with a light coat: beige or a sand shade works well, and go over it with gloss varnish. Cut the decal with a small overlap, once seated work it into the engraved lines with a decal softener and let it dry overnight. The shade can be fine-tuned with a thin filter or a wash, and a darker wood tone comes from a light overspray of heavily thinned translucent brown. At the end unify the sheen according to how worn you want the surface to look, from satin to flat varnish.
This is a modeling accessory, not a kit. Paints, clear coats and decal softener are not included in the package.
