The accessory set for the American M26 Pershing heavy tank holds seventeen castings according to the name. It does not replace the vehicle model; it adds equipment, stowage and oddments on the armor to it. Black Dog casts it from resin in 1:48 scale. The accessory is fitted onto the Tamiya 32537 kit, which is not in the package.
The M26 Pershing reached American units at the close of the Second World War as an answer to the heavy German tanks. Against the machines in service until then it brought a 90 mm gun, heavier armor and torsion bar suspension. It took only a marginal part in the fighting in Europe, and played a far more prominent role later in Korea, where it became a reliable mainstay for the infantry. Series production got under way slowly, so in Europe this machine remained a rather rare sight.
Divide the seventeen parts into what belongs under the paintwork and what is fitted at the very end. Things fastened to the outer armor cast a shadow, and if you glue them on beforehand, a bare spot is left under them. Resin takes both enamel and acrylic paints, but it needs a degreased surface. Build the patina up from a dark flow into the recesses toward a light dusting of the edges.
The set is an accessory to a model of the tank; neither the tank nor any paint products are part of the delivery.
