A kit of the American McDonnell MD-120 Flying Crane helicopter in 1:48 scale. A flying crane with an open structure you can see through.
Responsibility details are not available.
The McDonnell MD-120 Flying Crane is an American helicopter from the group of so-called flying cranes. These machines arose for a single task: to carry a heavy load slung under the machine to where ground equipment cannot get. The structure is therefore limited to the bare minimum, free space is left between the cabin and the tail section and nothing covers the load-bearing frame. It is a little known type, which is met among kits only rarely.
An open structure is a challenge and a reward for a modeler at the same time. You can see through the machine, so every joint, every gap and every unfinished detail is exposed, but at the same time the rotor head, the booms and the suspension are visible from every side. In 1:48 scale the model has a reasonable size for a display case and offers enough room for careful work with small parts.
Before gluing, rid the parts of excess material and traces of manufacture, sand the mating surfaces and try the whole assembly dry. With an open structure it is necessary to watch the right angles and the alignment of the booms, otherwise the machine sits crooked. Paint the inner surfaces before access to them closes. Leave the thin parts and the rotor blades until the end, so that they do not break off while being handled. Wash and degrease the model before painting.
The model is supplied unassembled. Paints, glue, putty and add-on sets are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
