An add-on set of turned metal parts for MiG-19S kits in 1:48 scale. According to the name it holds the barrels of the cannon armament and a pitot tube. It is not a model of the aircraft or of a part of it but a replacement for small parts that never look the way they should in plastic.
The MiG-19S was a single-seat supersonic fighter with a swept wing and two jet engines, designated Farmer C in the NATO code. Its cannon armament was housed in the wing root and in the nose; the barrels and the long pitot tube on the nose are among its most characteristic details. The type served in a number of countries, including licensed variants.
With long thin parts, straightness and concentricity are decisive. An injection-molded plastic pitot tube tends to be slightly bowed because of the ejector and warps when demolded, whereas a metal one is straight and seats fully home. That is exactly why you should fit it at the very end, after painting and varnishing, otherwise you will bend or knock it off during handling. Drill the hole for the pin exactly on center and glue the part in with super glue; wipe off any excess glue at once, as it shows up shiny on metal. Once the cannon barrels are fitted, polish them lightly and add subtle exhaust staining trailing backward.
This is an accessory to a kit, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
