The 1:48 MiG-23MLD chaff/flare dispenser (covered) accessory from the maker Aires brings a resin chaff and flare dispenser in the covered version for a model of the MiG-23MLD fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model but a detail set.

With this set Aires deals with one particular exterior detail of the airframe: the dispenser of decoys, that is the device for releasing chaff (dipole reflectors) and infrared flares. The set is listed in the covered version, where the block is enclosed by a cover. The cast part has sharper edges and cleaner transitions than plastic, which is clearly apparent on covers of a complicated shape on a fuselage. The package holds this detail alone; the MiG-23 kit itself has to be your own.
The MiG-23 was a Soviet single-engined fighter with a variable-geometry wing, taken into service at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s. The MLD version was the last and most thoroughly developed single-seat fighter variant; compared with the older machines it received aerodynamic modifications improving its behavior at high angles of attack and modernized equipment. The means of passive defense, among which dispensers of decoys belong, appeared on the later versions in several executions, so the shape and placing of the block differed on individual machines.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with dish soap and let it dry thoroughly. Cut the casting block off with a disc and level the seating surface wet so that the part seats on the fuselage with no gap. Try the fit dry before gluing and fill any gap with thin putty or a drop of super glue, followed by sanding down. Paint it together with the surrounding surface of the fuselage, so that both the shade and the sheen follow on. Accent the fine engraving around the cover with a thin wash and go over the edges carefully with a dry brush, so that the part does not look like a block stuck on.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The aircraft model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
