Aires 1:48 MiG-27 early exhaust nozzle - closed is a resin replacement for the exhaust nozzle of the early MiG-27 version, cast in the closed position. It is an accessory for a model, not a kit of an aircraft.

An accessory set from the Czech manufacturer Aires for models in 1:48. It replaces the exhaust nozzle of the early version of the MiG-27 ground-attack aircraft with a detailed resin casting with thin walls and an inner structure that injected plastic cannot manage. This variant is cast in the closed position, that is in the state matching a machine standing on the ground with the engine shut down or running at a low setting. The manufacturer also makes a version with the nozzle open. The package holds resin parts; a model of the aircraft is not part of it.
The MiG-27 was a Soviet ground-attack aircraft derived from the fighter version of the MiG-23 with a variable-geometry wing. Unlike its predecessor it was given a reshaped nose without radar, adapted for attacks on ground targets, and strengthened landing gear. The early batches differed from the later ones in details of the airframe and in the arrangement of the engine section, which shows precisely in the shape of the exhaust nozzle, and that is why the manufacturer offers the early and the late version separately.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent so that no release agent is left on them. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and do not break them off; when sanding resin, protect your airways. Before gluing it in, try the seating dry, as the end of the fuselage occasionally has to be adjusted slightly. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The nozzle is best painted separately, before it is glued in: metal shades form the base, over which heat discoloration is applied in dark and bluish or brownish tones, with a fine layer of soot toward the end of the nozzle. Stir metallic paints thoroughly before spraying and apply them only onto a smooth base.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
