A set of resin barrels for the Japanese fighter Kawanishi N1K1 Shiden in 1:48 scale by the manufacturer Quickboost. It is not an aircraft model but a precisely cast detail part that replaces the barrels from the base kit with a sharper version with faithful muzzles.
The N1K1 Shiden (Allied code name George) was a powerful Japanese land-based fighter of the end of the Second World War, powered by the Nakajima Homare radial engine. Its main armament consisted of 20 mm cannons mounted in the wings. The barrels are small but conspicuous elements that in injected plastic tend to be too thick or to have closed muzzles. The resin replacements have a more faithful diameter and finely suggested muzzles.
These are small and fragile parts: wash them free of mold release agent, separate them carefully from the casting block and glue them with cyanoacrylate; protect your airways when sanding. Paint the barrels in a dark metallic shade (burnt steel, for example) and, because of their exposed position, attach them only at the end of the build.
The part is supplied as a resin accessory, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
