A plastic kit of a Soviet bus of the 66B type on the chassis of the GAZ-51 truck in 1:43 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The subject is a Soviet bus built on the chassis of the GAZ-51 truck. That is how most smaller buses came about in the post-war Soviet Union: a works supplied a proven truck chassis and a coachbuilder put a box body with benches on it. For that reason the vehicles combine the hooded front end of a truck with a tall, angular body, and in service they ran on country routes and carried workers to their jobs.
This is a plastic kit in 1:43 scale, the scale in which road vehicles are collected. A bus in it comes out appreciably larger than a passenger car and makes a striking item in a cabinet, especially in a collection focused on Eastern vehicles. The build is short compared with large scales, but all the more attention does it ask for clean gluing.
The large flat surfaces of the body will give away every irregularity, so sand traces of manufacture carefully and smooth them out before painting. Lay the paint on in thin coats, otherwise the outlines of the windows and the trim strips are lost. Fit the glazing last and glue it carefully, so that the adhesive does not fog the clear parts.
The set will please collectors of buses and commercial vehicles of Eastern production and modelers who prefer a shorter build in a smaller scale. It also looks good in a serviceable, that is slightly dusty, finish.
Paints, glue and a display case are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
