This set from the Czech maker Eduard contains photo-etched brass parts for sharpening a plastic model of the American P-47D Thunderbolt fighter in the razorback version (with the spine running smoothly on behind the cockpit) in 1:48 scale. It is not a standalone kit of the aircraft but an accessory that raises the detail of the cockpit, the instrument panel, the belts and other areas. On sets of this kind the interior parts are usually printed in color and self-adhesive.
The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt was among the heaviest and toughest single-engine fighters of the Second World War. The Razorback version, with the glazing running back into the spine of the fuselage, was used in Europe and in the Pacific both for escorting bombers and for attacking ground targets. Its eighteen-cylinder radial engine and eight machine guns made it a feared opponent.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp knife and bend them in a bending tool. Glue the unpainted parts with cyanoacrylate; press the color-printed self-adhesive elements into place. Degreasing and a primer help before gluing metal.
The set is supplied unassembled. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
