An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Republic P-47D Thunderbolt fighter-bomber in 1:48 scale. The Wolfpack boxing builds on the proven plastic from Academy and adds pre-painted photo-etched parts, masking film for the glazing and new decals from the Cartograf printing house. The MTO edition concentrates on machines fielded in the Mediterranean and offers three marking variants of the US Army Air Forces.
The P-47 Thunderbolt was one of the largest and heaviest single-engine fighters of the Second World War. It was powered by a strong radial engine with a turbocharger and carried the heavy armament of eight machine guns. It stood out for its toughness and for its ability to attack ground targets, which made it a popular fighter-bomber. In the Mediterranean it escorted bombers and attacked enemy transport and airfields.
Use a thin cement for plastic and glue the pre-painted photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. Finish and paint the cockpit before you close the fuselage; the pre-painted photo-etched parts will raise the detail of the instrument panel and the seat belts. Apply a primer before painting and put the colors on with an airbrush; the masks enclosed make clean glazing of the canopy easier. On machines in natural metal, metalizer paints on a smooth, polished base work well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
