A photo-etched set for the Panther Ausf. D tank in 1:48 scale from the Czech brand Hauler refines the thin sheet metal elements of the hull and the superstructure that cannot be produced in injection-molded plastic.

This is an accessory to a kit already bought, not a model of a tank. The set is etched from thin metal sheet and serves to replace the parts that are necessarily thicker in plastic than in reality: grilles, fenders and their brackets, eyes, clips and the small accessories attached to the hull. In 1:48 scale this difference shows immediately, because the model is large enough for the thickness of the material to be apparent at first glance.
The Panther Ausf. D was the first series-produced version of the German medium tank Pz.Kpfw. V from the period of the Second World War. Characteristic of it are the sloped armor plates of the forward part of the hull, a 75 mm gun with a long barrel and running gear with interleaved road wheels of large diameter. The exterior of the machine carried a number of thin sheet metal elements, from fenders to the covers of the engine compartment, and it is precisely those that are the object of this set.
Proceed in this order: first remove the plastic parts that are being replaced, sand the surface flat and only then glue the etched elements. Separate the parts with a scalpel on a hard base and make the folds along the etched groove. It is glued with cyanoacrylate in a minimal amount. Degrease the metal and spray it with primer, and only then paint. A wash flowing into the recesses and fine dry brushing on the edges come out well on the finished surface.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the basic kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
