A photo-etched front bumper and spoiler for the Sd.Kfz.232 in 1:48 scale is an accessory set for a plastic kit you have already bought, not a model. Thin metal replaces an oversized plastic part and gives the nose of the armored car the correctly slim profile.

A small but conspicuous modification from the Czech maker Hauler. The front bumper and the protective spoiler are among the most closely watched places on a model, because they are visible from every angle, and a plastic molding is always thicker, because of the injection technology, than the real sheet metal was. The photo-etched replacement has a real thickness and sharp edges. The set is meant solely for completing the Tamiya kit; in itself it is neither a kit nor a finished model.
The Sd.Kfz.232 belonged to the family of German heavy armored cars with all eight wheels driven. It was the radio version of the reconnaissance car, equipped with a powerful transmitter and a frame antenna, with a 20 mm gun in a rotating turret. The cars served with reconnaissance detachments from the campaign in Poland through France and North Africa to the Eastern Front. The front part of the hull was protected by a sheet-metal bumper and a deflector, which turned the dirt away from the chassis.
Cut the original plastic part away and sand the area flush, so that the photo-etch sits down without a gap. Mark the bends out beforehand with a blunt needle along the engraved lines on the photo-etch and make them in one stroke - repeated bending tires the metal and the part cracks. Glue it on with super glue and polish the joint over once it has dried. Do not forget that thin metal will take only limited handling; mount the bumper at the end of the build therefore, ideally after the base shade has been sprayed. A scuffed edge on the bumper can be suggested by drybrushing with a metallic pigment.
This is an accessory set for a kit you have already bought. It is supplied unpainted; the base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
