1:48 Sea Harrier FA.2/FRS.1 air brake from Aires is a resin set of the airbrake for models of the British Sea Harrier carrier aircraft in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A detail accessory, not a model of an aircraft. The set replaces the airbrake on the underside of the fuselage and its bay with resin parts. According to the name it is meant for both British carrier forms, that is the FRS.1 and the later FA.2, in 1:48 scale.
Injection-molded kits usually have the brake panel molded as one with the fuselage or as a flat part with no internal division. The bay beneath it practically does not exist, so the deployed position is out of the question; anyone who wants it has to cut the opening out and build the interior up from plastic strip. It is precisely that work the set does away with: it supplies both the panel itself with relief on its inner face and the space beneath it, into which you see once it is deployed. For a model prepared in a ground scene that means one striking moving item more, which gives away at once that the model is not just a smooth shell.
The procedure has three stages. First separate the castings from the casting blocks with a fine-toothed saw and level the surfaces on abrasive paper laid on a flat support, so that no wedge appears. Then make a dry run: at the bay some of the plastic usually has to be removed from the fuselage, and that step is done gradually, with repeated trying, rather than all at once. Only then glue, and do it with cyanoacrylate. Before painting, wash all the parts in warm water with detergent because of the mold release agent and apply a primer. Paint and shade the inside of the bay before you close the set into the fuselage, because afterward you will not get inside. Sand wet and with your airways protected.
This is an accessory, not a kit. The base model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
