A set of photo-etched parts for building the Sea King HU.5 helicopter model in 1:48 scale. Thin metal replaces the places where a plastic part is inevitably thicker than it should be.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Sea King is a British twin-engine helicopter with a five-blade main rotor and with the underside of the fuselage shaped like a boat hull so that the machine can survive a landing on water. Sponsons on the sides of the fuselage take the retracted main landing gear. The HU.5 version is the utility and rescue variant of the Royal Navy, that is, a machine meant for lifting people and for transport rather than for combat. It is precisely on rescue machines that the surface carries a host of small features, handles and covers that decide the overall impression of a model.
Photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale. Photo-etch is a thin metal sheet with an etched pattern, so a part comes out noticeably finer to scale than shaped plastic, which always has its smallest possible thickness. Wherever sheet metal should be sheet metal, a grille a grille and a strap a strap, the difference from the kit part is immediately visible. The extent of the set, the position of the individual parts and the kit the set is cut for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate the parts from the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with cutters; then file the remaining tab down with a fine file. Make the bends in a photo-etch bending tool or between two blades, always in one movement, because repeated bending fatigues the metal and the part breaks. They are glued with super glue applied in drops with a pin, never straight from the bottle. Before painting, wash and degrease the photo-etch and use a primer intended for metal, otherwise the paint will peel off the smooth surface.
The kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
