A set of resin exhaust manifolds for a model of the British Supermarine Spitfire Mk.V fighter in 1:48 scale. It is the three-stack variant with fishtail ends, used on some Mk.V machines. It is not a kit but a detail accessory for more experienced modelers that replaces the plastic exhausts.
Cast exhausts have thin edges and open mouths of a kind plastic does not allow. The fishtail variant differs from the ordinary round exhausts in its flattened, widened ends; the correct type matters for the fidelity of a particular machine. The exhausts are clearly visible on a model and carry prominent exhaust staining.
Wash the resin parts free of mold release agent and cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a craft knife. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). It works well to paint the exhausts in metallic and rusty shades separately, pick them out with pigments and fit them only at the end of the build.
This is an add-on set, not a model. The base kit, glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
