The American Thompson M1928 submachine gun in 1:48 scale. An accessory for figures, for a vehicle interior and for gear in a scene.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Thompson M1928 is an American submachine gun in .45 ACP caliber, a weapon of short range and exceptional effect at close quarters. You recognize it at a glance: a wooden stock and fore-end, a finned barrel, a compensator fitted at the muzzle to damp the rise during a burst, and beneath the barrel either a vertical grip or a horizontal fore-end. The magazine came in two forms, stick or drum, and it was the drum that gave the weapon its unmistakable silhouette. During the Second World War it served with American units and reached the Allies through deliveries as well.
The set brings this weapon in 1:48 scale. It comes into its own in the hands of figures, propped up in a vehicle interior, stowed in a rack or lying loose among the gear in a diorama, where it reveals whose crew it belongs to.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the rest off carefully, so as not to round the edges of the stock. Wash and degrease the parts before painting and choose the glue according to the material; super glue serves universally. The wooden parts go toward a warm brown and the metal toward dark steel; a light dark wash that settles between the fins of the barrel then ties the whole together. A dry brush one shade lighter finally picks out the edges and the weapon stops looking like a flat component.
For builders of figures and vehicles in 1:48 scale who find the right weapon missing from a model. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
