Towing cables for the M4 Sherman 1:48 from Eureka XXL is an add-on set of braided cables for models of the most widespread Allied tank of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an add-on set, not a tank kit. It replaces the towing cables molded in plastic, which in boxed kits tend to be stiff, flat and without any braided texture. The smaller 1:48 scale does not hide that shortcoming at all; on the contrary, on a small model the cable is one of the few prominent features on the sides and rear of the hull, so the difference between a plastic rod and genuinely braided wire rope shows at first glance.
The M4 Sherman was the standard American medium tank of the Second World War, built in enormous numbers and used by Allied armies as well. A whole family of versions appeared, differing in hull, engine, running gear and armament, but the external stowage including the way the towing cables were carried on the hull stayed similar in principle, which makes it easier to use the set on more than one variant.
In 1:48 scale work with tweezers and good light, as the parts are small. Measure the wire rope against the actual stowage on the model and reinforce the ends with a drop of super glue before cutting, otherwise they will unravel. Fit the eyes dry, check that the cable settles into the brackets with a natural sag, and only then glue it. Painting is simple: a dark metallic base, a fine dry brush to draw out the texture and a light rusty wash where the cable would rub against the hull. Match the eyes to the color of the vehicle, so that they do not look like a foreign element.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
