A resin engine set in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Aires. The set faithfully captures the American Allison V-1710 V12 aircraft engine in the -85 version and serves to raise the detail of a plastic kit. It is not an airplane model but a detail accessory that allows an exposed engine installation or a display of the engine on its own. The package is usually rounded off with fine photo-etched parts.
The Allison V-1710 was an American liquid-cooled V12 engine that powered a range of American fighters in the Second World War. It was built in many versions differing in the reduction gear, the supercharging and the output; the -85 designation corresponds to one of these production variants. A faithful rendering of the engine lets a modeler open up the front of the aircraft to good effect.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts, cut off the casting blocks and clean up the surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Spray the engine block in metallic shades, set the piping and the accessories apart in color and pick out the details with a dark wash. Check the fit with your particular kit before closing the cowling.
The resin set is an accessory for a plastic kit, which is not included in the package. Glue, paints and the model itself are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
