Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the early P-51 Mustang in 1:48 scale from Academy. The boxing is focused on aircraft of the US Army Air Forces (USAAF) used over North Africa and the Mediterranean. It is a classic injection-molded plastic kit that calls for the usual modeling skills: separating the parts from the sprues, cleaning them up, gluing and painting. The exact contents of the package and the number of marking schemes are not stated here.
The early Mustangs were powered by the American Allison V-1710 V12 engine, which worked best at low and medium altitudes. These aircraft (listed by the British as the Mustang Mk.IA) carried a heavy gun armament and proved themselves as fast attack and reconnaissance aircraft. Over North Africa and in the Mediterranean the American units used them to attack ground targets and for tactical reconnaissance, before the later versions with the Merlin engine turned the Mustang into the celebrated long-range escort fighter.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with a thin modeling glue for plastic. Paint and accentuate the cockpit interior and the glazing before closing the fuselage, and mask the clear canopy when spraying. Apply primer and paints with an airbrush, apply the decals over a gloss clear coat and accentuate the engraved panel lines with a wash. Desert aircraft often carried a worn finish and deposits of dust, so add an appropriate amount of wear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
