1:48 Yak-9T seatbelts STEEL are steel photo-etched seat belts from Eduard for the cockpit of a Yak-9T model in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit, but a small accessory with a big effect.
Responsibility details are not available.
A small set with a single task: to replace the pilot's seat belts, which plastic kits deal with at best by a shallow relief on the seat. The parts are etched from steel and color-printed. Steel differs from brass in that it holds its shape once bent, so you can let a belt fall freely over the edge of the seat or hang down to the cockpit floor and it will not straighten out.
The cockpit of the Yak-9T was moved back compared with an ordinary Yak-9 so that a 37 mm cannon would fit into the nose. On a model the pilot's station is therefore easy to see, and an open canopy makes it one of the places a viewer heads for first. Soviet fighters of the period had a simply arranged interior, and all the more does every well-made detail show in it.
Separate a belt with a scalpel and, before you start shaping it, plan out how it is to lie, as bending it a second time somewhere else is no longer possible without risking a break. You make a natural sag by drawing the belt over a round object, for instance over the shank of a drill. Shape the buckles with blunt tweezers, as pointed ones leave scratches on the printing. Use a genuine minimum of glue, ideally a drop carried on a pin, as any excess soaks under the belt and dulls the printing.
