1:48 Yokosuka MXY7 Ohka Model 22 (outside and inside masks) is a self-adhesive Montex masking set for the glazing frames. It is not a model, but an accessory for a 1:48 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Die-cut self-adhesive masks for the glazing of the small Japanese Ohka machine in the Model 22 version. The set covers the outside and the inside of the frames. Given the dimensions of the subject these are small parts, on which a machine die-cut mask is considerably more accurate than hand-cut tape.
The MXY7 Ohka was a Japanese single-seat purpose-built aircraft used in the closing stage of the Second World War. Whereas the first production version had solid-fuel rocket propulsion, the Model 22 differed from it in having a motorjet powerplant and smaller dimensions, which were meant to allow it to be carried by a different parent aircraft. The design was deliberately simple, with short range and minimal equipment; this version practically never reached combat use.
On a model this small, the result is decided at the moment the masks come off. Let the paint merely set and peel the mask away with tweezers sideways, not straight up. If the paint has hardened in the meantime, run the point of a fresh scalpel along the edge of the mask so that the coat separates cleanly and does not lift over an area. Degrease the glazing before applying the masks and let it dry completely. Spray the paint in two stages: the interior shade under the inside masks first, then the outer finish.
The package holds masking templates only. The model and the paints are not part of it.
