A set of large fan grilles in 1:35 scale from MAiM turns a dull wall into the focal point of an industrial scene: a large fan is the detail a viewer finds first on a diorama.
Responsibility details are not available.
A diorama prop for scene builders: a set of fan grilles in a large rendering, meant for fitting into walls, shafts and technical scenery in 1:35 scale. Unlike small ventilation, which merely fills a scene out, a large grille works as a full compositional element. It is supplied as an unpainted casting to be cleaned up and painted.
Large fans belong on the end walls of factory halls, in machine rooms, in the ventilation shafts of a metro or of bunkers and of course in science fiction corridors, where the viewer senses a dark underground behind the grille. The contrast of scale is striking: stand a figure in 1:35 in front of the grille and the scene gains monumentality at once. The grille also works beautifully with light, because if you place a light source behind it the louvers will draw dramatic shadows.
Once the surface is cleaned up and degreased it pays to work in layers: a dark metal base, gentle lightening of the edges with a dry brush and oil filters to even everything out. Below the grille belong the vertical streaks of dirt and rust that rainwater creates over years of service. The inside can be brought out with a dark wash so that the blades of the fan visually recede into depth.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and lighting are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
