A plastic model of the Japanese battleship Haruna in 1:700 scale. A fast battleship of the Kongo class with eight guns of 35.6 cm caliber; the finished model measures about thirty-two centimeters in length.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Haruna belonged to the Kongo class, that is to ships built before the First World War as battlecruisers. Two extensive rebuilds between the wars gave them stronger armor, a new powerplant and a characteristic tall superstructure, so they entered the Second World War rated as fast battleships. The main armament consisted of eight guns of 35.6 cm caliber in four twin turrets. It was precisely their high speed that made them the hardest-worked capital ships of the Japanese fleet: they escorted aircraft carriers, covered landings and took part in night actions. The Haruna survived most of the war and was destroyed only by air raids on Japanese ports in 1945.
A plastic model of a warship in the most widespread collectors' scale, 1:700. After her rebuilds the subject measured over two hundred and twenty meters, so the finished model comes out at roughly thirty-two centimeters in length. The list of parts and the range of color forms are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Start with the hull and the deck, and only then fit the superstructure, the gun turrets and the boats. Separate the thin masts and barrels with a sharp blade and sand the remaining material down; they break with cutters. Spray the hull before the small equipment goes onto the deck, and apply the paint in thin coats so that the fine surface detail is not lost. The rigging between the masts can be added with fine thread.
For collectors of the Japanese fleet of the Second World War and for modelers who want a large ship at a reasonable size. The kit is supplied unassembled; paints, glue and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
