The BMW 3 Series in the generation designated E36 replaced its angular predecessor at the start of the 1990s and brought rounder shapes, lower frontal drag and the characteristic narrow lights behind glass. The 318i version stood in the range as the entry-level form with an inline four-cylinder, and that is exactly why it became one of the most widespread cars of its time on European roads. The 1994 model year falls in the middle of production, when the E36 range was already available in several body variants.
