A plastic kit of the British destroyer HMS Glowworm in her state of 1938, that is in her prewar form. With its ship kits in 1:700 scale the Polish manufacturer IBG Models prides itself on fine detail and modern tooling, so even a small destroyer offers richly laid out decks and superstructures.
HMS Glowworm belonged to the G-class destroyers, built in the middle of the 1930s. The armament consisted of four 120 mm guns and heavy torpedo armament — Glowworm was one of the few British destroyers to carry two quintuple torpedo tubes. She became immortal on 8 April 1940, when off the Norwegian coast she met German destroyers alone and then the heavy cruiser Admiral Hipper. The heavily damaged ship rammed her opponent and sank immediately afterwards; her commander Gerard Roope received the Victoria Cross posthumously for this action.
In 1:700 scale work with a sharp knife, fine files and tweezers; paint the small parts while still on the fret and do the final touch-ups after assembly. The hull in its prewar state suits the dark gray coat of the Royal Navy with decks in a natural wood shade. The model looks excellent on a simple water surface made from acrylic gel.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
