The Artwox Model 1:700 wooden deck for the British battlecruiser HMS Renown in her 1942 form is a self-adhesive veneer with the laying of the planks printed on it. An accessory to a ship kit, not a model. Intended for the Trumpeter 05764 kit.

A thin natural veneer cut to the shape of the deck areas of a ship model in 1:700 scale, with the printed pattern of the gaps between the planks and with a self-adhesive layer on the back. It is stuck onto the finished plastic deck and replaces it with a surface of real wood. The set deals with one particular thing, the look of the deck; other details of the model, such as railings or equipment, are the subject of other accessories. The set is intended for the Trumpeter 05764 kit.
HMS Renown was a British battlecruiser of the class of the same name, brought into service during the First World War and fundamentally rebuilt in the 1930s. The modernization gave her new superstructures, a reworked power plant and much heavier anti-aircraft armament. In the Second World War she served in the Atlantic, in the Mediterranean and in the Indian Ocean, often as a fast unit escorting formations. The figure for the year in the name refers to her configuration at that time.
With elongated deck parts it pays to lay them from the center toward both ends. Align the part dry first along the longitudinal axis of the model, mark the position lightly, and only then uncover the adhesive layer in the middle. From there press the veneer toward the bow and the stern: any imprecision is then divided between both sides instead of accumulating at one end. Do not cut the overlaps off with scissors but trim them away with a new scalpel guided along the edge of the plastic. If the wood looks too yellow, you can tone it down with a thinned oil wash in a gray-brown shade.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model. The kit, glue, paints and photo-etched parts are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
