The Aoshima 1:700 Japanese Seaplane Tender Kunikawamaru is an injection-molded plastic kit of a Japanese seaplane tender from the Waterline range.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:700 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Aoshima covers the auxiliary seaplane tender Kunikawamaru of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The model is conceived in the style of the Waterline series, that is, as a ship shown cut at the waterline for setting on a water surface or in a diorama.
The Kunikawamaru was a converted merchant ship taken into service during the Second World War as an auxiliary seaplane tender. Vessels of this type carried, launched and worked reconnaissance and observation seaplanes and performed support duties in the forward areas of the Pacific. She carried cranes and handling equipment for working with the aircraft.
It proves its worth to assemble and paint the decks and the superstructures separately. The fine parts of the armament, the cranes and the railings will be brought out by thin coats of paint laid on with an airbrush, and the metal surfaces then by a wash and drybrushing. For the naval scheme use shades of Japanese gray; we recommend finishing the seaplanes and the boats separately.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
