An injection-molded plastic kit of the Chinese diesel-electric submarine Type 033 in the small 1:700 scale from the manufacturer Hobby Boss. It is a simple full-hull model with a low part count that goes together fairly quickly and is also suitable as a companion to a fleet in the same scale. A base and decals are part of the package. For the exact contents of the package, go by the instruction sheet.
Type 033 is the Chinese version of the Soviet ocean-going submarine of the Romeo class, which China built in large numbers from the 1960s to the 1980s. It was a diesel-electric attack submarine of classic layout with a torpedo armament; the Chinese version brought partial improvements, among other things a reduction of the noise. Boats of this type served with the PLA Navy and with several other countries to which they were exported.
Glue the hull with a thin cement for plastic and sand the seam between the two halves carefully, so that no visible line is left on the smooth flank. Decide whether you will build the model full-hull on the stand supplied or only down to the waterline. Paint the bottom in an anti-fouling color and the upper part in dark gray or black. Refine the small details of the deck, the sail and the masts with the periscopes and add them only at the end, then even out the surface with a matte varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
