A Type IXC submarine in 1:700 scale, the standard of U-156 of the Kriegsmarine, from the maker Easy Model. A finished model, supplied assembled and painted.
Responsibility details are not available.
A finished collector model of the Type IXC ocean-going submarine in the standard of the boat U-156. The model is assembled and painted at the factory, so nothing is glued, filled or sprayed. The small 1:700 scale makes it a compact exhibit that goes well with models of surface ships of the same scale.
Type IX was a line of ocean-going submarines with a large fuel capacity and long range, intended for voyages far from home bases. Against the smaller coastal and medium-sized types it had greater displacement, a more robust hull and a roomier internal layout. The IXC sub-version was among the most numerously built standards of the line. An external mark of the type is the fairly long deck with a flat bow profile and a conning tower with platforms for defensive armament. The model captures the technical appearance of the boat, that is the shape of the hull, the tower and the deck features as the maker rendered them at this scale.
Models of submarines come into their own in a flat, low display case, where the length of the hull stands out. For collector ship models 1:700 is the standard, so vessels of different categories can be stood side by side and their sizes compared directly. Because of the small scale, details such as railings, masts and guns are very fine, so handle the model by the hull and avoid wiping it with a cloth. For dust a soft dry brush is the safest. Do not expose the model to direct sun or damp.
The model is supplied finished, assembled and painted. Nothing is glued, filled or sprayed.
