A plastic kit model of the American destroyer USS Cushing (DD-797) in 1:700 scale from Tamiya, from its Waterline range. The model is built as a waterline version with the hull above the waterline and captures the armament and superstructures of a Fletcher class ship.
The USS Cushing was a Fletcher class destroyer, the most numerous class of American destroyers of the Second World War. Ships of this class combined five-inch dual-purpose guns, torpedoes and heavy anti-aircraft armament and proved themselves in the fighting in the Pacific, escorting carrier task forces as well as in direct engagements. The Cushing served in the closing phase of the war in the Pacific.
Seat the hull on a flat surface for an accurate waterline. Bond the fine parts such as the guns, torpedo tubes and masts with thin cement for plastic. American naval grays and the Measure camouflage schemes suit it; bring the panel lines and the decks to life with a wash, and the railings can be added from aftermarket photo-etch.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
