A wooden deck 1:700 USS Tuscaloosa CA-37 in the blue finish is an accessory to a ship kit: a veneer with printed planks in a blue shade matching the wartime painting of decks. The veneer is cut to the outline of the decks of the Trumpeter 05745 kit.

This is an accessory to a ship model from the Trumpeter 05745 kit, not a kit. It differs from the basic version in the color of the deck: it has a blue tone matching the dark painting of deck areas used on American ships during the Second World War. Through the layer of color the structure of the planks stays apparent, so the surface does not look like a flat spray job but like painted wood. A modeler thus chooses according to the state of the ship he wants to show.
The USS Tuscaloosa CA-37 was an American heavy cruiser of the New Orleans class. On models of these ships a colored deck comes into play especially together with gray camouflage of the sides, where the typical contrast arises between a darker deck and lighter vertical areas.
Think the order through. First finish spraying the hull and the superstructures and only then glue the deck on, or you would have to mask the finished veneer laboriously and every overspray would damage it. Before gluing, degrease the area and verify the fit dry. Once the deck is glued on, do not spray covering paints onto it any more; the surface can be evened out only with a very fine coat of matte varnish. It is a good idea to go over the transition between the deck and the side of the hull at the end with a dark wash, which closes the seam optically.
The accessory is supplied on its own. The ship kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
