A masking set for the canopy glazing of A-7 Corsair II kits in the B, D and E versions in 1:72 scale from Italeri and Esci. The pre-shaped parts replace cutting strips of adhesive tape.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Vought A-7 Corsair II was an American carrier-borne attack aircraft that served the US Navy and the US Air Force from the 1960s on and saw action in a number of conflicts. The A-7B and A-7E versions flew from the decks of aircraft carriers, the A-7D version was land-based. The forward-hinged canopy has prominent frames that need to be separated with a crisp edge during the build.
Self-adhesive masking parts shaped to the canopy glazing of the A-7 Corsair II kits in the B, D and E versions in 1:72 scale from Italeri and Esci. The shapes match the individual glazed panes, so there is no measuring and no cutting of tape strips.
Apply the masks to a clean and degreased clear part before spraying, not after the paint has dried. Separate the parts with tweezers or the tip of a blade and press them down with a toothpick so that the edge seats along its whole length and the paint does not creep under. Lay the paint on in several thin coats, otherwise a ridge builds up at the edge of the mask. Take the mask off as soon as the paint has set; later it peels worse and risks tearing away a piece of the finish.
The set suits anyone who builds one of the kits named above and wants crisp, straight glazing frames without lengthy preparation. Even a less experienced modeler can handle it, because all the shaping is done and the parts only need to be transferred onto the model. The time saved shows mainly on intricate framing, where tape would have to be cut piece by piece.
The package contains the masking parts only. The kit and the paints are not included, unless stated otherwise.
