An injection-molded plastic kit of the Bell AH-1W Super Cobra attack helicopter from Italeri in 1:72 scale. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; it is a classic plastic kit meant for gluing and spraying. For the exact contents of the box (the number of parts, the decals and any weapon pylons) follow the enclosed instructions and the markings on the box.
The AH-1W Super Cobra is the twin-engined version of the proven Cobra gunship, developed for the US Marine Corps. Compared with its single-engined predecessors it received a pair of turboshaft engines, which raised both performance and safety over the sea and in hot weather. The crew is two men in tandem; the machine carries a cannon in a nose turret and, on the stub wing pylons, a combination of unguided rockets and guided anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles. It was used in a number of conflicts from the 1980s onward for close air support.
Finish and spray the cockpit before you close the fuselage, because once it is glued you cannot get inside. Mask the canopy glazing and paint it separately. Apply the base coat over a primer and use thinned modeling paints in the airbrush. Fit the rotor blades and the weapon pylons only at the end so that they are not in the way while you handle the model; the typical military gray will come alive with a fine panel line wash and a discreet weathering of the exhaust stains.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
