Resin correct engine cowling for the Arado Ar 196 1:72 from Aires/Quickboost. A detail replacement for the engine cowling with a more accurate shape for a truer nose on the model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from the aircraft aftermarket maker Aires/Quickboost is a resin replacement engine cowling for a model of the Arado Ar 196 floatplane in 1:72 scale. It is not an airplane kit but a detail accessory that replaces the shape-simplified plastic part from the base kit with a more faithfully cast cowling of correct geometry. The exact shape of the engine cowling has a strong effect on the overall look of the nose.
The Arado Ar 196 was a German shipboard reconnaissance floatplane of the Second World War, catapulted from surface ships. It was powered by an air-cooled radial engine whose cowling is one of the prominent and clearly visible features of the forward part of a model.
First wash the resin part to remove any mold release residue, cut off the casting block carefully and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). We recommend dry-fitting the cowling and tuning the fit with the fuselage before painting; the edges will stand out once they are accentuated.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
