A plastic kit of the Soviet AS-2 airfield starter truck in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian maker UM (UniModels). The model is supplied as injection-molded plastic with rubber tires, to be assembled and painted. It is an interesting special vehicle outside the usual run of combat equipment.
The AS-2 was an airfield starter truck on the chassis of the GAZ-AAA truck. It served for turning over and starting aircraft engines at the field airfields of the Soviet Air Force. Thanks to its specialized attachment it makes an unconventional companion to models of period aircraft and airfield scenes.
Take care over seating the wheels and the rubber tires and over assembling the starter attachment cleanly. A primer works well, then protective green with an airbrush and fine washes; dust pigments on the running gear will suggest the setting of a field airfield.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
