The third sheet of the decal series from the Wolfpack Design brand concentrates on transport Skytrains operated by the US Navy and the US Marine Corps under the designations R4D-6 and R4D-7. You are buying printed decals; a model of the aircraft itself is not included.
The US Navy did not use the same designations for aircraft as the US Air Force, so the transport Skytrain became the R4D. The six corresponds to the late form with more powerful engines, while the seven was adapted for training navigators and carried student stations inside instead of a cargo compartment. It is that difference that deserves attention: a training machine usually has differently arranged windows and different legends from a transport. The naval machines also differed in their finishes, from the dark blue paint of the early years to later lighter schemes with bold bands.
A glossy dark finish is treacherous: every scratch shows through it, so prepare the surface carefully and spray thinly. On the training version the inside of the cabin gives itself away through the windows, so either work it out properly or darken the windows. Polish the model before applying the decals and unify the sheen with a final coat once it is dry. Deal with the propellers and their hubs right at the very end.
