A restored classic 1:72 kit of the Canberra jet bomber in the B(I) Mk.12 version from the Vintage line.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Canberra first flew shortly after the Second World War, and its combination of a large wing and two jet engines gave it altitude and endurance that fighters were at a loss with for a long time. The version designated B(I) was intended for attacks on ground targets, so it received a repositioned pilot's canopy and space for gun armament under the fuselage. The designation Mk.12 belonged to the export machines bought by New Zealand and South Africa, and they flew in their colors for many years after the Royal Air Force had moved on to more modern types.
The New Zealand machines operated from bases in Southeast Asia, while the South African ones worked in an environment where heat and dust tested the whole structure. The camouflage schemes of the two users differ distinctly, so the subject offers more than one route in color.
The item comes from a line that brings historic molds of the Prostejov production back onto the market. The character of the parts matches that: the breakdown is simpler than on today's new releases and the seams call for patience during clean-up. The reward is a type that is not commonly offered in this scale.
Before gluing, therefore, count on dry fitting, above all at the joint between the wing and the fuselage. Glue, paints and putty are not included in the package. You will make the work easier with a well thought-out order of painting, since the broad surfaces of the wing are far more comfortable to spray before the engine nacelles are added to the airframe.
