The Chapeau de brousse Modele 49 is a French field hat with a wide soft brim, introduced under the pattern designation 49. Compared with a helmet it protected mainly against sun and rain, could be rolled up and was worn in a warm climate where a helmet would have been needless weight. For a figure it is a striking recognition element: a silhouette with a wide brim is told apart from a helmet even from several paces away and determines at once what kind of figure it is.
Accessory headgear in 1:72 scale intended for figures. How many pieces the package contains, whether they are hats on their own or whole heads, and whether the hat is in the form with a chin strap are given on the packaging and in the manufacturer's material. In 1:72 scale the head of a figure measures a few millimeters, so these are very small parts. Work over a surface, therefore, and pick them up with tweezers, as they get lost on a table at once.
Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder down carefully, so as not to damage the brim. Wash and degrease the part before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold. Use super glue for gluing, best in gel form, which gives you a moment to settle the position. If the hat replaces the original headgear of a figure, level the surface it will seat on. Paint with restraint: cloth headgear tends to be noticeably lighter and more faded than a uniform.
Figures, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
