Responsibility details are not available.
Pre-cut self-adhesive masks for a model of the de Havilland Mosquito B.XVI in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit or a spare part but an accessory for spraying the glazing. The contents of the package, that is the number of masks and their extent, are stated on the box of the set.
The Mosquito is a twin-engine aircraft of wooden construction; the B.XVI version is the bomber form with a pressurized cabin. For the modeler what matters is the shape of the glazing: the rounded nose runs on into the side windows and the upper part of the cabin, so the frames travel over an area that curves in two directions at once. It is here that straight masking tape fails - either it ripples, or it lifts on the curve and the paint runs underneath.
Work segment by segment: fit the masks onto the intricate frames of the nose first, then onto the flatter sides and finally onto the upper part. Offer each part up dry, check it against the engraved frames and only then press it home with a toothpick - on curved areas with short strokes from the middle outward, not in one movement across the whole mask. Any edges that do not bear are better put right at once, as after spraying there is no saving it. Degrease the glazing beforehand, lay the paint on in thin coats and pull the masks off at a shallow angle while the finish is not yet fully cured.
It is not a kit. The package holds only the masking set; the model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
