Riveting decides whether the surface of a model looks convincing. Punching rivets with a wheel is slow, though, and on a curved surface the row easily wanders or changes its spacing. This sheet offers another way: finished rows of raised rivets that transfer onto the model in one piece and keep a regular spacing even where a wheel would slip.
The rivets are arranged in double parallel rows, so they suit hems, joints and seams where rivets run in two lines side by side. The print is black, which works under darker coats and for suggesting a recessed shadow. The dimensions match work in 1:72 scale.
These are wet decals. The base must be smooth and coated with gloss varnish, otherwise a white haze will appear around the rivets. Cut off the length of row you need, dip it in lukewarm water for a moment and let it stand until the print starts to move freely. Settle the row with a soft brush, mark the direction out with tape beforehand and blot the surplus water away. On a curved surface a decal softener helps. Once everything is fully dry, varnish it over.
The sheet will suit modelers who restore riveting wiped away by sanding seams, or who add detail on smooth parts without reaching for a riveting wheel. The model, paints, varnish and softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
