A set of cast wheels with weighted tires for a model of the American supersonic F-101 Voodoo in 1:72 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory that replaces the plastic wheels from the kit. The box states that the set also offers optional nose wheels, so you can pick the shape matching the version you are building. The underside of the tire is cast flattened, as if the weight of the machine were pressing on the wheel, and the one-piece casting does without a parting line.
The McDonnell F-101 Voodoo was a twin-engine supersonic machine of the 1950s. It was originally meant to be a long-range escort fighter, but in the end it was employed in other roles: the F-101A and C as a fighter-bomber, the two-seat F-101B as an interceptor of the air defense and the RF-101 as a photo-reconnaissance machine. A typical feature is the horizontal tail set high on the vertical surface. It was exactly this layout that lay behind the notorious tendency of the nose to rise on its own.
Wash the parts in warm soapy water so that the mold release agent disappears. Cut the casting block off with a fine-toothed saw and sand the face down, protecting your breathing while you sand. Glue with cyanoacrylate, that is, super glue; cement for polystyrene does not hold on resin. Point the flattened part of the tire toward the base and align both sides. Spray a primer before painting.
The set is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
