This is an accessory for building figures in 1:72 scale, not a finished painted figure and not a kit of a model. The base of a male figure serves as the starting point of a conversion: a modeler fits a head, headgear, footwear and other small things onto it and so puts together a figure he will not find in the ordinary range. In small scales it is precisely finding a suitable body that is the most frequent obstacle when building a diorama with a particular scene.
Most often a base of this kind is used for civilian figures for city and railway station scenes, for the crews of vehicles, for airfield personnel or for figures that are meant to take a stance other than the one a production set offers. The male and female variants differ in the proportions of the figure, so a scene with both comes across more naturally than a scene put together from one type of body.
Before building, look the part over against the light and clean up the parting lines and any residues left from casting. Level the surfaces for fitting the further parts with a file and stand the assembly up dry first, so that you see the overall silhouette. It is glued with super glue, and the small seams at the neck and the shoulders are made good with a two-part filler, with which a fold of the clothing can be modeled at the same time. Degrease the finished figure, spray it with a base coat and only then paint. In 1:72 scale a procedure from a darker ground to lightened edges works well: a base shade, a dark wash into the folds and a light dry brush on the raised places. Deal with the face as simply as possible, as exaggerated detail comes across as distracting at this scale.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the further parts of the figure are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
