An injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier torpedo bomber Grumman TBF-1C Avenger in 1:72 scale from Hobby Boss. The model faithfully captures the rugged shape of this three-seat machine with its roomy bomb bay and characteristic dorsal gun turret. The surface is rendered with fine engraved panel lines.
The Grumman Avenger was the most widely used American carrier torpedo bomber of the Second World War. It first flew in 1941 and went into action as early as the Battle of Midway in June 1942. It was powered by a radial engine and carried a crew of three — pilot, radio operator and gunner in the dorsal turret. It carried a torpedo or bombs in an enclosed bomb bay in the fuselage. The TBF-1C version was also armed with wing machine guns, and the aircraft served not only with the US Navy but with other Allied air arms as well.
Separate the parts with a cutter and glue them with modeling cement for plastic. Before spraying we recommend a primer, which evens out the surface and shows up any shortcomings. The best results come from an airbrush; naval camouflage suits gradual shading and final washes to bring out the detail. It is best to mask the cockpit glazing before spraying.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
