Responsibility details are not available.
The He 162S-9 kit from the Czech maker AZ model is an injection-molded plastic model in 1:72 scale. The boxing represents the version with butterfly tail surfaces, that is surfaces arranged in a V, and belongs to the broad series of He 162 versions that the manufacturer has been releasing one after another. Beside the production machines, the series also covers developmental and projected versions.
The Heinkel He 162 was a single-seat jet fighter from the end of the Second World War with a single BMW 003 engine mounted on the spine of the fuselage and a structure designed for rapid production. Production machines had a horizontal tail with a pair of vertical surfaces at its tips, but further developmental versions of the type were to have a butterfly arrangement of the tail surfaces, which was meant to simplify the structure and improve the airflow behind the engine nacelle. It is exactly this shape that gives the model its characteristic silhouette.
The butterfly tail is the most delicate spot on a small model — test-fit the parts dry, reinforce the joints with a piece of wire if need be, and check the angle of both surfaces from behind before the glue sets. Finish the cockpit interior before you close the fuselage and mask the canopy with foil or liquid mask. Apply the paint with an airbrush in thin coats, lay down a gloss coat compatible with the paint used under the decals, and finally tie the surface together with a matte varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
