A display built around the entrance to a building. A gate is an exceptionally rewarding item in a composition, because it forms a frame in itself and offers a ready view to which the viewer's eye returns again and again.
You can approach the passage in two ways. Either you leave it clear and a view into empty space arises, which adds depth to the display, or you push the model partly into it so that only part of it stays visible. The second solution acts cinematic: the viewer works out what is around the corner, and that tends to be stronger than showing everything at once.
The reveals of the gate and the edges of the masonry are the places where a real building wears first. It is exactly there that it pays to add a scuffed deposit, masonry exposed under the plaster and darker seepage below the window sills. Leave the rest of the facade calmer instead, so that the display does not lose its order of importance. Complete the lower band of the wall with dust, which settles against it naturally.
Photograph the arrangement so that the light comes from the side and the passage stays partly dark. The sharp difference between the lit facade and the shadow in the opening will do most of the work for you. Seen head-on, by contrast, the gate loses its depth and turns into a flat cutout in the wall.
