The 1:72 scale is exceptional for an airliner of this size: the resulting model is extraordinarily large, so count on it as a solo display piece rather than an ordinary shelf kit.
The Il-86 was the first Soviet wide-body airliner. It was a four-engine low-wing monoplane with a swept wing and engines on pylons under the wing, intended to carry a large number of passengers on medium routes. A characteristic feature was the lower-deck boarding concept: passengers came up built-in stairs, left their luggage in the lower part of the fuselage and only then climbed into the cabin. In this way the aircraft did without ground equipment, which at the airports of the day made handling easier.
With a model of such a span the preparation decides everything: the workplace, enough room for drying and a build order thought out in advance. Glue the long fuselage joints section by section and keep clamping them as you go so that the fuselage does not twist; consider internal reinforcement and think about nose weight so that the model stands on its landing gear. Large smooth surfaces are merciless to badly sanded filler, so check the surface under a sharp light before painting and use a primer. Airliner schemes tend to be glossy and extensive - spray in thin coats, apply the decals onto a gloss surface and count on large-format decals needing more water, a softener and patience.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
