Dead Design 1:72 Jaguar GR.1/3/T.2 National Insignias And Markings (Hasegawa/Italeri) is a set of masks for the national insignia and markings of the British Jaguar in 1:72 scale. The insignia are sprayed instead of applied as decals, so no carrier film is left on the surface.

This set has nothing to do with masking the canopy. These are masks for roundels and other markings, applied to a finished coat of paint so that the individual colors of the insignia can be sprayed through them one after another. The result is part of the paint, not a film laid on top: it has no rim, it does not silver and it cannot peel off. According to the name, the set is intended for the GR.1, GR.3 and T.2 versions and for the Hasegawa and Italeri kits.
A decal is always a thin transparent film with the color printed on it. On a matte or textured surface air is trapped beneath it and the insignia gets the characteristic silvery rim, which then has to be rescued with softeners and varnish. With a sprayed insignia that problem falls away and the color of the insignia has the same sheen as the surrounding camouflage. The drawback is the need to work in stages: every color of the insignia means a spraying pass of its own and drying time of its own.
Finish the camouflage first and let it cure properly, ideally overnight. Lay the mask on a flat area without engraved lines wherever possible, and press the edges down carefully. Lay the colors on heavily thinned and in thin coats, so that no step can be felt. Work from the light color to the dark one and always let each pass dry before the next. Take the mask off slowly with tweezers and at an angle, on larger insignia from the center toward the edge.
