The real subject

The Gr.Patr.38 Hl/B is shaped-charge ammunition of 7.5 cm caliber. The letters Hl in the abbreviation point to a shaped charge, which pierces armor by the concentrated effect of the explosion and not by the velocity of the projectile, and the letter B distinguishes one of the variants of this round. The ammunition belonged to the 7.5 cm Kw.K.40 and Stu.K.40 guns, that is, to the weapons mounted in German tanks and assault guns, both in the version with a barrel 43 calibers long and in the L/48 version with a barrel five calibers longer.

Building and painting tips

Cut the surplus material and the traces of production away with a sharp blade a little away from the part, sand the rest off with fine sandpaper and take care that the tip of the projectile is preserved. They are glued with cyanoacrylate; cement for polystyrene does not hold on these parts. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. The result looks better when the shade of the case is distinguished from the body of the projectile.
