Injection-molded plastic kit of the Italian command vehicle Carro Comando M14/41 in 1:72 scale from IBG Models. The command version is based on the M14/41 medium tank: in place of the rotating turret with its gun it received a fixed superstructure with extended radio equipment and revised defensive armament, so that it could direct the movement of armored and artillery units from the battlefield itself. Check the exact make-up of the armament and the contents of the box against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Carro Comando was the command conversion of the Italian medium tanks of the M13/40 and M14/41 families, which formed the backbone of Italian armored forces in the North African theater and in the Mediterranean. Removing the turret and the gun freed space for additional radios and a map table, so the vehicle served as a mobile command post. It lacked the striking power of a battle tank, but its task was to improve coordination and communications within Italian formations. The M14/41 version had, compared with the earlier M13/40, a revised engine that coped better with desert conditions.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid cement for plastic; in a small scale take care to clean up the small parts. Paint and assemble the running gear and the interior before closing up the hull. Apply a primer and the paints with an airbrush, and put the decals on over a gloss coat. Bring a desert scheme to life with a wash in the recesses and pigments for dust and mud effects on the running gear and the lower hull.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
