A self-adhesive mask set for modelers building the two-seat version of the Fighting Falcon in 1:72 scale. It is neither a kit nor a spare part, but an accessory used during painting: on the carrier sheet are pre-cut shapes that follow the framing of the glazing and other areas of one specific Hasegawa kit. The ADVANCED designation describes the scope of the set. Within the New Ware range it is the extended level, which sits above the basic BASIC level and below the widest EXPERT level, and the number of templates follows accordingly.
The two-seat versions of the F-16 have a markedly longer one-piece canopy with thin framing and a dividing arch between the seats. In 1:72 scale the width of a frame works out to tenths of a millimeter, and a line drawn by brush rarely stays the same thickness along its whole length. A frame sprayed through a cut mask also has the same color and the same degree of sheen as the airframe around it, because it is produced in the same step and with the same paint.
First wash the clear parts in lukewarm water with a little detergent so that no mold release agent is left on them, and let them dry out completely. Lift a template off the sheet with pointed tweezers, lay it on dry and only then press it down with a wooden toothpick all the way around, above all where it follows the arch of the canopy. Spray several thin coats straight on at the edge of the mask, not at an angle under it. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, slowly and folding it back over itself rather than straight up.
The package holds only the masking templates. The kit, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
